Aerolyn Dawnflower
As a girl, I grew up during the fall of industry and the rise of chaos. When I was fourteen, my boyfriend took upon himself the name of Surillious and left our village with his lifelong friend Crais to join a band of rebels who were fighting the tyranny of the New World Order. At this point I never thought I would see the day of his return, and I worried daily about his safety. Two years had passed before my worry turned to action. I thought he could be in danger so I packed some traveling gear and headed out to find him. I had no idea what was in store for me or where I was going; I travelled from place to place, asking for any word of the reclusive rebels and their location. As my journey lengthened, I realized that I was low on supplies. In the distance I caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a village. Weary of my travelling, I decided to stop for a good night’s rest and to replenish the supplies I had used. As I entered the town all was calm; I went to the local inn and slept. After a restful night I awoke and realized the sun was already high. As I left my room in search for something to eat I was shocked at what I found. This calm little village that I had stumbled upon the night previous was in complete chaos. Everywhere I looked people were fighting. As I ducked into the opening of an alley to take shelter, I noticed an armor-clad warrior kneeling on the ground. His sword lay on the cobblestones beside him as he wrapped a brace around a child’s leg, seemingly not caring that war was in such proximity. This was such a peculiar sight I was immobilized. Movement in my peripheral vision freed me from my trance and the hair upon the back of my neck stood on end. Another man, clad in red and bearing the insignia of the NWO, crept quietly forward. Instinctively, I grabbed a brick that was lying next to me. I threw the brick with all my strength and it clipped his head before clattering against the far wall. The sound alerted the kneeling warrior to the danger at hand. In one fluid motion he rose with sword in hand and faced his foe. The sole concern reflected in his eyes was to protect the child. I knew right then and there my life would never be the same. It was in that moment that I knew I wanted to be a warrior like him. I watched as he gracefully beheaded his enemy and saved the child. I ran to them, desiring to see that the child was unharmed. That is when my old life ended, and my life as Aerolyn began. I eventually discovered that the man fate had introduced to me was Tiberius Eaghra, the Rising Star of Alterra. I was drawn to this swordsman by some unexplained force. I asked him to allow me to be his apprentice and to teach me the art of war, so that I too could defend those in need. We became great friends and I learned from him daily. To this day I remain faithful to him as apprentice and soldier.
